What to Expect
Before treatment can begin our therapist will discuss your medical history including information about your pregnancy to date and what symptom(s) you have presented with. This will give the therapist a clear idea of the individual needs of the patient. They will also discuss your treatment option, agree a course of action and obtain your consent. You may withdraw your consent to treatment at any stage.
Once consultation has been completed you will be asked to remove your clothing to your level of comfort. The therapist will leave the room for your to get undressed. You will be asked to lie on the treatment bed covering your body with towels provided, covering the body except the area which is being massaged.
Relaxation music is played throughout your treatment, however if you find music distracting please tell your practitioner. Massage oil or lotion are used in your treatment, If your allergic to oils or lotions please let your practitioner know.
As your treatment begins your therapist will check on the pressure and your comfort, however if you are feeling uncomfortable at any time please tell your practitioner. Comfort is important and our therapist can change your position at any point of your massage to suit you. As an expectant mothers body shape and posture changes our therapist will make accommodations to adapt the anatomical changes throughout your pregnancy.
If you’re considering treatment we suggest contacting your midwife or GP before booking your appointment to check that they are happy for you to go ahead. Massage an only be carried out after the first trimester. If necessary our therapist my refer you to other healthcare professionals, such as your GP or midwife, a consultant or others.
